You are a single fighter running the hull of a gigantic cylindrical warship. Each sector is held by an enemy flagship — find it and destroy it to break out. The hull wraps all the way round — keep going sideways and you come back to where you started.
The game
- Goal: destroy the sector's flagship. It waits at the far end of the hull and will not let you past. Everything else — fighters, mines, debris — is in your way, not in your objective
- The hull is the arena: superstructure blocks your path and stops your shots. Weave through the trenches
- Hostiles: they hunt in a squadron, hold a firing ring around you and shoot back. Higher sectors send more of them, tougher and faster
- Shields: the bar at the top left. It regenerates a few seconds after you stop taking fire. Empty it and you lose the ship
- Salvage: gold canisters float over the open lanes. Fly near one to bank the credits
- Clear a sector to unlock the next — you are carried straight into it
The Flagship
- Every sector has one, waiting at the far end of the hull. It is the only way through
- It keeps its distance and circles rather than charging, and fires in spreads. Twenty-five hand-built flagships, tougher and faster the deeper you go. After sector 25 the fleet keeps coming: every sector from 26 on is generated and never runs out, and each number always builds the same hull
- Destroy it and the sector is yours
Debris
- Meteorites come down on the hull throughout a run. They are not aimed at you — the danger is simply being underneath one
- A strike close by takes a bite out of your shield and shoves you off course. Each one scorches the plating, the same mark cannon fire leaves, so a long sector gradually shows where it has been hit
- How often they fall depends on the difficulty, from the occasional rock on Rookie to a steady bombardment on Ace
Mines
- Red proximity mines are scattered through the corridors. The lamp on each one beats faster the closer you get — that is your only warning
- Fly into one and it takes a serious bite out of your shield. Shoot them instead: one hit clears a mine, so a blocked corridor costs you time rather than hull
- They show as red dots on the map, and how many are laid depends on the difficulty — 6 on Rookie up to 30 on Ace
- Zen mode lays none at all
The Shade
- An enormous armoured sphere rides a slow spiral orbit around the ship, always at the same height, taking about six minutes to circle the hull once
- Eight limbs hang from it. Two or three reach down and feel across the plating at any one time while the rest sway; each holds for a few seconds, lets go, and another takes its turn
- They are not aimed at you — they touch down wherever they touch down. The danger is being under one when it does. They come over the walls, so cover does not help
- You cannot kill it and you cannot outrun it, because it is not chasing you. It is on station in every sector. Zen mode keeps it away entirely
Checkpoints
- Five yellow CHECKPOINT arrows are spaced along the route to the flagship. Only the next one is ever shown
- Fly through one and your progress is saved there — die afterwards and you resume from it rather than from the launch bay
- They cost nothing and they are not optional in any way that helps you. Take them
Upgrades
- 🛡️ Shield — more capacity and faster regeneration, up to Mk7
- 🔫 Cannon — more damage and a faster rate of fire. Mk3 adds a second barrel, Mk6 a third
- Credits are yours, not the sector's: they carry across sectors and are saved per pilot. Replaying a sector you have already cleared still collects salvage, but it pays nothing — otherwise sector 1 could be farmed forever
Controls
- Arrows, bottom left: fly her like a vehicle. Up is the throttle and down is reverse; left and right steer. She turns progressively — a tap nudges the nose a few degrees, holding sweeps her round — and she carries momentum, so ease off before a junction
- You can pivot on the spot: steering works even at a standstill, which is how you line up for a side corridor
- 🔥 bottom right: fire. Auto-fire is on by default and shoots for you whenever a hostile is in front of the nose
- ↶ ↷: turn the camera a step at a time. You can also drag the view
- The camera rides behind and above the ship. Drag to swing it round, pinch or scroll to pull it in or push it out. ↻ or R puts it back where it started
- Zoom: pinch or scroll
- Keyboard: WASD or arrows to fly, Space to fire, M for the map, Esc to close any panel
The HUD
- ☰ opens the menu
- Sector ▾ jump straight to any sector you have unlocked
- 💰 credits banked
- 🎯 hostiles still flying · 🔫 your cannon grade
- II pause, or P on a keyboard. The game also pauses itself if you switch away
- 🗺️ the overview map
Play menu
- 🗺️ Map — an unrolled overview of the whole hull showing you, the hostiles, the launch point, the flagship and any salvage still out there. The game pauses while it is open
- 💡 Hint — opens the map with a nav line to the flagship drawn on it, then leaves that line glowing on the hull for about six seconds.
- 🔦 Headlight — the beam thrown ahead of the ship. Off gives you a darker, moodier run and one less thing on screen. L on a keyboard
- 🔄 Restart — puts you back at the launch point. It asks first, and your unlocked sectors and credits are untouched
Difficulty
- Five settings — Rookie, Easy, Normal, Hard, Ace. Each one changes how many enemy fighters you face, how tough they are, how fast they move and how often they shoot
- The squadron size is fixed per setting — 4, 7, 11, 15 and 20 fighters — wherever you are in the fleet
- Change it any time from the menu — the squadron re-deploys immediately, no need to restart
- Your choice is remembered between sessions
Comfort
- 🧘 Zen — no hostiles at all, so you can fly the hull at your own pace. Times are not recorded while Zen is on
- 🐢 Gentle — keeps the squadron but sends fewer of them, slower, and firing less often
- 🚩 Checkpoint — if you lose the ship, respawn at your last save instead of back at the launch bay. Hit 💾 Save whenever you want to set that point. With no save, or with this off, you restart at launch
- All three are free and always available. There is nothing to earn first
Progress
- 💾 Save — stores your sector, position and salvage
- 📁 Load — picks up from your last save
Options
- 🔊 Sound — engines, cannon, explosions and callouts, on or off
- ☀️ Theme — cycle the hull palette
- ❓ How to play — opens this panel
- switch, next to your name at the bottom — change to a different pilot
